Schools have long recognized their responsibility for providing health education to students to help them achieve their fullest potential through the attainment of high levels of physical and mental health and general welfare. Basic to this health education is knowledge about the importance of the interrelationships of physical, behavioural, and social well-being and the prevention of diseases and other health problems. Schools, therefore, play an important role in helping students learn to accept responsibility for personal health decisions and practices, and work with others to maintain a healthy physical and social environment.
