This course is designed to develop an understanding of the fundamental concepts of Information Technology. The purpose is to facilitate the understanding of Information Technology Systems including the various techniques and tools for gathering, manipulating, analyzing and disseminating information. Emphasis is also made in the use of the Internet as a valuable source of information and as a means to facilitate the use of Information Technology Systems. In addition, it seeks to develop an understanding of the power of information technology along with its various advantages and disadvantages and/or problems.

This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to computer concepts. The course is intended to teach basic concepts of computer hardware, software and networks. The course also provides students with theoretical and practical concepts in the Internet, word processing, spreadsheet processing, and slideshow presentations. The course also aims to provide understanding of the roles and implications of computers in our society and the benefits of using computer technology in our daily activities.
